Acting President from 1909 to 1910 Mary C. Roark
Mary C. Roark
Dr. Ruric Nevel Roark was a man of prestige, and it was a boost to the normal school when he accepted its presidency in 1906. Unfortunately, his tenure was brief. He died in 1909 at the age of 50. For a time, Dr. Ruric Roark's wife, Mary C. Roark, who simultaneously served as dean of women, acted as president of Eastern until a full-time successor could be appointed. In 1910, John Grant Crabbe, who had been serving as Kentucky's superintendent of public instruction, assumed Eastern's presidency.
