Reflections on Scholarship: Celebrating Excellence and Innovation

Eastern Kentucky University Libraries, the Teaching and Learning Center and the University Centennial Committee are sponsoring a special Centennial Celebration entitled Reflections on Scholarship: Celebrating Excellence and Innovation on Thursday, September 7, 2006 from 3:30 - 5 p.m. in the Keen Johnson Building featuring guest speaker Dr. Edwin J. Delattre.

Dr. Delattre is an accomplished professor and scholar. He currently serves as Dean Emeritus of Education, Professor of Education and Philosophy, and as a Resident Scholar in Applied Ethics and at the Center for School Improvement at Boston University. Dr. Delattre will present Furnishing and Disciplining the Mind on Dark Streets and in Bright Libraries: Opportunity and Challenge During 35 Years of Intellectual and Civic Life.

The event will include performances by the Music Department’s faculty Brass Quintet and the student Guitar Ensemble, as well as a special reception including a historical photograph display of faculty in their scholarly roles and of the University’s Libraries.
