Made to be Played: Traditional Art of Kentucky Luthiers

Visit the John Grant Crabbe Main Library’s Grand Reading Room through November 23, 2010 to enjoy Made to Be Played: Traditional Art of Kentucky Luthiers, an exhibit of the handmade instruments and tools of Kentucky’s foremost stringed instrument players.

This special exhibit is dedicated to the memory of EKU graduate Homer Ledford, a gifted luthier, instrument inventor and musician who passed away in 2006. The exhibit features examples of his handcrafted instruments, carvings, and tools, including a dulcimer, mandolin and “fiddle fone.” Instruments by other Kentucky luthiers, including dulcimer maker and EKU graduate Warren May, are exhibited as well.

Sponsored by the Kentucky Arts Council and the Kentucky Historical Society.
