imageCome and enjoy a presentation in celebration of Dr. Melba Porter Hay’s Madeline McDowell Breckinridge and the Battle for a New South.  Breckinridge was a leading women’s rights advocate as well as an activist in the areas of public health, education and charity.  Dr. Hay has highlighted Breckinridge’s notable achievements as well as detailed fascinating new information through newly discovered correspondence.  Don’t miss this exciting examination of a prominent Kentucky historical figure.  Presentation will be followed by a book signing and reception.  Proof of attendance slips will be available for students in attendance.  Classes are welcome!

EKU Libraries and the University Archives present “Getting to Noah Webster: Schoolmaster to America,” a special display featuring a page from the handwritten draft of Noah Webster’s first dictionary of the American English language. The display will also highlight some of his other works, information about his life and his many contributions to education in America. The display can be viewed in the Main Lobby of the Crabbe Library Sept. 23 through Oct. 23.

Enjoy the display’s opening reception on Wednesday, Sept. 23 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the Crabbe Library Lobby, featuring remarks by President Doug Whitlock and Dean of EKU Libraries Carrie Cooper.

color-studio-logo2EKU Libraries would like to inform students of the exciting changes taking place in the Crabbe Library. Construction of the Noel Studio for Academic Creativity has begun and will continue through next summer. The Noel Studio is scheduled to open in fall 2010. Throughout the construction, both quiet and group study areas will remain available. Group study areas are available on the 1st floor in the Periodicals area, on the 2nd floor in the Reference Room and on the 3rd floor in the Government Documents area and in the Learning Resources Center.
